Progressive business to attend NGC - ANC

PBF providing various packages to companies who want to attend council

MEDIA STATEMENT BY THE ANC PROGRESSIVE BUSINESS FORUM REGARDING THE NETWORK FORUM AT THE UPCOMING ANC NATIONAL GENERAL COUNCIL

In line with international best practice the Progressive Business Forum (PBF) and African National Congress (ANC) will involve the business community on the sidelines of the ANC National General Council (NGC). This will creates a unique opportunity for the corporate sector to engage the ANC leadership and delegates on its economic and social policies. A total of 32 exhibition spaces have been provided for, which will accommodate some 60 companies ranging from large corporations to SMME's.

The PBF has deliberately decided to ensure a good mix of companies, both in terms of size and sector, as the economy is dependent on the contribution of all. Since the event is meant to provide an opportunity for the private sector to engage the ANC, no parastatals have been invited to attend.

In terms of cost, the packages have been designed in such a way that it is affordable for any size company to participate, pending space availability. Since the intention is to promote dialogue between the business community and the political policymakers of the country, all delegates to the NGC will be encouraged to visit the Network Forum.

The Exhibition will take place in a specially erected marquee linked to the Coast of Dreams venue, in which the conferencing, restaurant and PBF VIP lounge will be situated. In addition to the exhibition the PBF has organised a high-level formal dialogue programme in which exhibitors and additional businessmen will participate.

The Network Forum's Exhibition and conferencing area will be located adjacent to the National Council venue in the Durban Exhibition Centre.  Participation has been fully subscribed and the participants' list is currently being finalised.
