Riot police at Parliament after EFF thrown out

17 May 2016

Parliament - Riot police arrived at Parliament after EFF MPs fought tooth and nail as protection officers forced them out of the National Assembly chamber on Tuesday.

They grabbed on to anything they could as they were shoved across the marble floor of the building. A pedestal and benches were used to prevent their eviction.

"Push, push," the officers ordered as EFF members grabbed the door frames. Shoes, paperwork, and pens flew through the air.

When the officers had pushed them out of the Old Assembly Poorthuys entrance, objects were thrown at the glass, cracking it.

EFF members grabbed the fire extinguishers at the entrance and opened them on the officers, shouting for the key to the big wooden door.
