SACP Gauteng condemns EFF invasion of legislature

Party says storming bore hallmarks of a "colour revolution" or false flag operation on behalf of Western imperialist powers

SACP GAUTENG CONDEMNS THE EFF INVASION OF THE LEGISLATURE LED BY JULIUS MALEMA

The SACP in Gauteng is deeply concerned by the insistence of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to violate all norms and procedures using highly provocative and illegal actions that poses a threat to our democracy. This follows their invasion of the Gauteng provincial legislature yesterday in which they vandalised property, assaulted people and looted food at the legislature and in parts of the CBD.

We are more worried that the act of storming the Gauteng Provincial legislature last night bore all the hallmarks of a well planned, covert, so-called "colour revolution" associated with western-backed regime change projects against movements that don't share the outlook of big Western imperialist powers.

Many "Colour revolutions" are false-flag operations that always relied on using popular mobilisation methods under the pretext of "fighting for rights" in this case the right of EFF to wear overalls in the legislature". They have succeeded in deposing many elected governments across the world, replacing them with anti-people client governments that are at the service of imperialism.

The SACP condemns the EFF project to wage a low intensity counter-revolution and calls for extreme vigilance. Our government in this case, has a special responsibility to protect lives, more fundamentally of those vulnerable youth being used in the protests. Self-inflicting casualties and injuries is often always a big card in these activities, which are then used to blame government and inflame counter-revolutionary tensions.

We reaffirm our view that EFF is anarchic and counter-revolutionary. In their view legislature must be preoccupied with diversionary issues, overalls -with expensive Gucci merchandise underneath- and not development, infrastructure and job creation. This is anarchism, the subordination of working class to bourgeois politics.

We express our full support for the final ruling of the Speaker. All members must accept the rulings of the Speaker, or give up their seats.

The working class must close ranks, law enforcement agencies must carry on their work more diligently and strong sanctions against the EFF representatives in the legislature must be considered.
