DA WELCOMES SUSPENSION OF GAUTENG HEALTH OFFICIALS

The Democratic Alliance welcomes the suspension of four senior officials following fraud allegations in the Medical Supply Depot of the Gauteng Health Department.

This is long overdue as there was a damning forensic audit on this depot last year.

It appears that we have been grossly over-paying for medicine in Gauteng, and there have been recurring supply problems of essential drugs.

Proper management and cost controls need to be put in as soon as possible to ensure that all clinics and hospitals get medicines in good time.
