The ANC must fire Truman Prince – DA

The ANC must fire Truman Prince

19 April 2016

The DA calls on the ANC in Luthuli House to fire Truman Prince following yet another assault charge against the controversial Beaufort West Mayor.

At a community meeting in Nelspoort outside Beaufort West on Thursday 14 April, Truman Prince manhandled the DA Ward Councillor, Dalene Slabbert and told a DA supporter that he will "donner" her.

This happened shortly after he told the meeting that residents who have not yet paid for their council houses, will now "get them for free" and that DA supporters are "being used by the Boere". He was also consistenlty using profane language.

The meeting was adjourned after the audience became increasingly inflamed and it seemed as if violence could break out.

Councillor Slabbert lodged a complaint with the Beaufort West Speaker, Mr Michael Motsoane,as well as the Western Cape minister of Local Government, Anton Bredell.

This is the second instance in three months where the Mayor of Beaufort West is accused of physically manhandling a woman.

In January this year, Mr Prince had charges laid against him after allegedly assaulting a uniformed police officer in Leeu Gamka.

Mr Prince clearly thinks that he is above the Law and that he can say and do whatever he wants without any consequences. He seems to have absolutely no respect for women and thinks it is acceptable to act in a violent manner towards women who he thinks is obstructing him in any way.

It truly boggles the mind that the ANC continue to protect Truman Prince.

The criminality within the ANC have truly reached new heights with an executive mayor, who already has criminal charges of assault against him, publicly manhandling a councillor.

I call on the ANC in Luthuli House to fire Truman Prince and stop protecting criminal conduct. By not acting against Truman Prince, the ANC will be seen to condone this despicable behaviour.
