There's a plot to assassinate Buthelezi - IFP

Blessed Gwala senses a grand plan to kill the party's president, possibly through poison (Aug 2)

IFP: PLOT TO ASSASSINATE PRINCE MANGOSUTHU BUTHELEZI

"One has been quiet for far too long, now is the time not to beat about the bush regarding the ongoing plots against the IFP leader, His Excellency Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi," said Honourable Blessed Gwala, Leader of the Official Opposition and Shadow MEC for Community Safety and Liaison.

The Leader of the Official Opposition in the KwaZulu Natal Legislature raised this concern during a Parliamentary sitting while the house was debating on the matter of Public Importance on the killings of Public Representatives and Leaders in KwaZulu Natal.

"I am not a Prophet or Sangoma but have sensed that there is a grand plan from the Corridors of Power aimed to assassinate Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the President of the IFP including poisoning him. Sadly this is also blessed by a certain courter which is sensitive to be named. If the Security apparatus disagree with this information, there is something wrong with those who are in charge of Intelligence," said Honourable Gwala.

The IFP wonders why the Security agency decided to make Prince Buthelezi vulnerable for assassination by striping him off Security Support Staff and resources, including escort vehicles and decided to strengthen that of Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi who is seemingly a Political Bride of the ruling party.

The IFP is aware that the ruling party will demand information which is already in its possession in order to cover its back, that it was not aware of any threats against the life of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. The Present government behaves the same way as the former regime on these matters of violence.

More than half of the 20 000 people who became victims of Black on Black internecine violence were IFP supporters and that 450 people were office bearers of the IFP. But until now the police have failed dismally to investigate those cases because they belong to an Opposition Party," said Honourable Gwala.

The IFP would like to remind the ruling party that Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi is South Africa's most Senior and Trusted Leader. He has acted on 22 occasions as State President. He was Minister of Home Affairs for 10 years and Chief Minister of the erstwhile KwaZulu government for 19 years. He has also been Inkosi of the Buthelezi clan for 60 years and President of the IFP since its formation.

"I would like to quote Dr Nelson Mandela on something that he once said when referring to Dr Buthelezi: "We have used every ammunition to destroy him, but we failed. He is still there. He is a formidable survivor. We cannot ignore him." "Mandela was not the only leader who admitted Prince Buthelezi's greatness, even Honourable Thabo Mbeki once said: "I have made it a point to listen carefully to everything he says. Constantly I have marvelled at his wisdom and his deep concern to sustain a value system that is critical to the survival of our democracy."

The Honourable Gwala continues to say, "Prince Buthelezi cannot be denied that he is one of the most prominent and sophisticated Political figure and that he deserves all honour and respect for his role he played in this country that includes proper security protection."
