Theuns Botha's statement utterly confused - Marius Fransman

ANC WCape leader says DA's deputy leader in province has no understand of ANC organisational processes

BOTHA CLUELESS ON ANC ORGANISATIONAL PROCESSES

The DA's Deputy Leader in the Western Cape proves to be suffering from selective amnesia.

In a statement issued by the DA ("Motsoaledi's deployment a slap in face for Marius Fransman"), Botha makes baseless and unfounded allegations that "the political deployment by the ANC of (national Health) Minister Aaron Motsoaledi to ‘assist' the Western Cape ANC for the 2014 election is a strange move".

More sinister is that he further purports that Minister Motsoaledi is "not welcomed in his own province".

Comrade Motsoaledi, like all other newly-elected NEC members has the support of our members, from the lowest to highest structures. His emergence to the NEC and to a higher organizational responsibility is a further indication of such. Botha's claims in order to frame the ANC are as outdated as apartheid.

What seems to have escaped the former DA provincial leader's paranoid logic is the obvious fact that Motsoaledi leads a team of the ANC's NEC deployees to the Western Cape, as mandated by the NEC meeting of January the 11th. It is the case in all other provinces where such appointments were made. So, what is new?

Such deployment of NEC members to provinces would ensure the presence of the NEC in all provinces, as it was even done herer before the task was assigned to Motsoaledi. Is there anything new here?

NEC deployees led by Motsoaledi are entrusted with amongst others the responsibility of attending PEC meetings, executing political work and attending to all problems that require NEC interventions. It is the same in all other provinces. Is there something new here?

To remind the DA's now deputy leader: Motsoaledi's predecessors, Cdes Trevor Manuel and Joe Phaahla, previously led the ANC NEC's team of deployees to the Western Cape. Having an NEC Convener of Deployees in each province predates Motsoaledi's appointment. So what is new then?

A false impression is further created by Botha that the Western Cape ANC leader was not elected to the NEC in fear of "public humiliation". This is another lame ad hominem attack on the ANC leader. Is there something new in that?

It was made clear that the Provincial Chairperson would not avail himself to serve on the party's NEC as he will, along with other provincial leaders, intensify our programme to dislodge the DA from power in the 2014 elections. Some leaders in other provinces did the same. Again: What is new?

It is evident that Botha's fear is fuelled by the fact that the ANC is already succeeding in re-connecting with communities, championing their interests. There is absolutely nothing new in that DA anxiety!

Various sectors of society are teaming up to dethrone the DA, in realization of the roadmap document of the Western Cape ANC, People's Path to Power 2014.

Botha's statement is therefore utterly confused! The entire leadership and members of the ANC in the Western Cape stands behind the National Executive Committee.

Moreover, we welcome the group of nine NEC members led by Motsoaledi!

The ANC in the Western Cape prides itself with a number of leaders of great calibre who have risen to prominence as NEC members.

Botha's narrow assertion (disclosing his limited DA experience) that the ANC has "no potential for leadership within its provincial ranks" is neither here, nor there. The Western Cape has recently seen a proportionally large number of leaders elected to the NEC in Mangaung and many are also deployed to other provinces to do oversight and support service on behalf of the NEC. This is over and above to their tasks in their branches and local structures.

To remind Botha and the ilk of a few in the NEC: Derek Hanekom, Naledi Pandor, Pallo Jordan, Lynne Brown, Rob Davies, Nomaindia Mfeketo, Mcebisi Skwatsha, Sue van der Merwe and Tony Yengeni. Many more bright leaders are growing in the Western Cape. The DA will soon come to know some of them!
