Top Limpopo officials should also be removed - NEHAWU

Union says shake up and overhaul of the system should also be complemented by the filling of all vacant posts

NEHAWU LIMPOPO WELCOMES THE ANC'S RECALL OF THE UNDERPERFOMING MAYORS AND CALLS FOR THE REMOVAL OF MORE UNDERPERFOMING STATE MANDARINS

NEHAWU in Limpopo ,welcomes the ANC's decision to recall the underperforming Executive Mayors and Mayors including Speakers and Chief whips as part of improving service delivery in the province. We also welcome the PEC lekgotla's resolution on the impact of section 100 (19 b administration on governance, we want to reiterate our position that they have overstayed their welcome and must exit and handover everything to the provincial administration.

The removals of these underperforming mayors will hopefully curb service delivery protests and improve the delivery of services to the poor. Our union wants this recall and removal of underperforming people to be escalated to other areas like Hospital CEO's, District Executive Managers , General and Senior General Managers that hinder service delivery.

This shake up and overhaul of the system should also be complemented by the filling of all vacant posts. There is an unacceptable shortage of staff in all levels of the public service in the province and in some instances employees in these departments are misplaced and are not doing what they are employed to do. This destroys their morale and compromises service delivery.

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Stanley Mathabatha himself should change his attitude towards workers and start to address some long outstanding issues which are affecting the moral of the workforce in the province. We are planning a march to the departments of health, education and the Premier's office to raise some of these issues. The failure by the Limpopo administration to take a clear position on the issue of labour brokering and outsourcing is an issue of concern for the union.

We expect that the Limpopo government understands that the concept of a radical second phase talks to doing things better, faster and differently and will respond appropriately to the challenges facing the province
