Fighters hope firm has not put Wiseman Nkuhlu at its helm to deflect attention from its crimes

EFF NOTES THE APPOINTMENT OF WISEMAN NKUHLU AS KPMG BOARD CHAIR

Wednesday, January 17, 2018

The EFF notes the appointment of Wiseman Nkuhlu as chair of the KPMG board. We note that at the center of corruption in South Africa, not just in relation to the Guptas, but also in relation to many other companies, are auditing firms. Beyond directly participating in state capture, auditing firms help in tax avoidance, profit shifting and tax base erosion.

We shall monitor KPMG closely and ensure that all investigations relating to the Gupta are concluded and those responsible prosecuted. We hope that KPMG has not put Wiseman Nkuhlu at its helm hoping that this move will deflate attention in relation to its crimes. Black leadership of private white monopoly companies always means these companies seek usage of black skins to reclaim moral high ground. Yet their ways remain structurally rooted in promotion of white supremacy and white monopoly interests.
