We're not behind the "Forces of Change" website - ANCYL

League condemns faceless campaign, says it learnt about it through the media

ANC YOUTH LEAGUE CONDEMNS The so called "FORCES OF CHANGE WEBSITE" AND UN-ANC TENDENCIES

The African National Congress Youth League would like to categorically state that it is not behind the so called "Forces of Change website" launched today. As most South African citizens, the ANC Youth League also learnt about the Forces of Change website and its twitter-handle SaveANC from the media today. We condemn this faceless campaign.

While the ANC Youth League is advocating for change in the ANC leadership, we acknowledge that it is the ANC branches and leagues who will ultimately inform the election of ANC leaders.

The ANC Youth League respects that South Africa's hard earned democracy allows for its people to start campaigns and initiatives as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others as has been done with LEAD SA, Homecoming Revolution, South Africa the Good News and many others in the past. As the ANC Youth League we respect the right of freedom of speech and as such the right to initiate such campaigns. That said, these campaigns mentioned are not faceless. The ANC Youth League therefore rejects this faceless so called "Forces of Change website" and any other faceless campaigns that only contribute to rumour mongering and fuel divisions within the ANC.

In the lead up to ANC conferences we have in the past encountered many tendencies that are foreign to the ANC that should be rejected outright. The ANC and its structures have websites and branches where differing views can be articulated. We reject faceless lobbyists and others who operate in the dark of the night. We reject the notion that the ANC can be bought by some who try to buy ANC branches through bribes in black plastic bags and brown envelopes in order to influence the votes of our members.

We condemn the use of Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe's name and names of other tried and tested cadres of the ANC for the glory of nameless and faceless people. We despise faceless talks of a breakaway party from the ANC. The ANC is our home; the outcomes of Mangaung must be respected regardless of which ideas emerge victorious. Comrades must at all times and even after Mangaung contribute and fight their battles within the organisation. Our role is to battle and work towards its renewal to the level of its glory during the days of the late President OR Tambo.

The ANC Youth League remains committed to advocating for leadership change and the positive renewal of the ANC. We will do this publicly and openly, within the ANC processes.
