Zwane and Van Rooyen only delaying inevitable – Mmusi Maimane

DA says interdicts are Minister's scrambling attempts to try discredit state capture report

State Capture: Zwane and Van Rooyen interdicts a blatant attempt to delay the inevitable

31 October 2016

The DA notes the 11th hour decision by Mineral Resources Minister, Mosebenzi Zwane, to launch an application seeking to urgently interdict the release of the Public Protector’s report into State Capture.

This follows Minister Des Van Rooyen’s announcement earlier today that he will be launching a similar interdict - for the second time – after he withdrew his first one.

These interdicts are nothing more than carefully calculated attempts to delay matters and drag out the inevitable release of the Public Protector’s report. Both Ministers are well known to be Gupta proxies, and therefore their scrambling attempts to try discredit this report is no doubt due to the fact that they are both implicated in the report.

In fact, the late joining by both Ministers is a clear indication that their only intention is to delay tomorrow’s proceedings as far as possible. The real question is - are these Ministers trying to save themselves and their credibility, or are they acting as proxies for their puppet master – the Guptas?

I will be in the North Gauteng High Court tomorrow morning, whereby our legal team will be arguing that the interdicts by President Jacob Zuma, Minister Van Rooyen, and Minister Zwane are mischievous, without merit, and simply delaying tactics in order to halt the release of the Public Protector’s report into State Capture. Therefore they must all be dismissed

The DA initiated this State Capture investigation in March this year, and we will ensure the report – which is complete – is released and its findings are implemented without delay.
