ANC says Ses'Khona must sort out internal problems
The ANC Western Cape says all structures serving the poor should unite in the people's camp. This includes Ses'Khona People's Rights Movement.
The ANC is however concerned about mixed messages sent by some Ses'Khona leaders today. They should urgently sort out their internal differences.
On Monday Ses'Khona leader Loyiso Nkohla met with the ANC to invite ANC leaders to today's march. The ANC is disappointed that today Ses'Khona leader Andile Lili went on the attack against the ANC PWC members who were received well when they arrived at the protest (see ENCA report).
Comrade Lili as a regional leader (member of the metro region executive) made remarks that is wrong against the ANC (casting aspersions and blamed them for not supporting him when he was removed as a Cape Town councillor or was prosecuted in court) and incited some protesters. The leadership left.
Despite a past period of tensions, the ANC remains committed to fight with Ses'Khona for better services and conditions for the poor. The ANC may differ with some of the tactics followed by Ses'Khona in the past, but recognise that they have a just cause and role to overcome inferior service delivery in poor areas.
The ANC condemns and distances itself from the ill-disciplined individuals who afterwards went on a rampage and allegedly looted some businesses. This is precisely why the ANC says the leaders of Ses'Khona must show their mettle and take responsibility. Comrade Lili should act like an ANC leader.
The ANC furthermore decided to politically engage with Ses'Khona and calls on all to set aside ego's in order to work for the oppressed and poor. The ANC calls on Ses'Khona to concentrate on working for service delivery issues - as was their intention.
The ANC reaffirms it took a decision that all mass democratic movement structures must unite on issues affecting the downtrodden and poor in the Western Cape. The ANC will not deviate from this resolution.
