Front Nasionaal to oppose Zulu Kingdom's land claim

Party says proposed claim includes the entire KZN, as well as pieces of the ECape, FState and Mpumalanga

FRONT NATIONAL OPPOSES ZULU LAND CLAIM - REGISTERS AS RESPONDENT

City Press reports that judge Jerome Ngwenya, the Chairperson of the Ingonyama Trust, reaffirmed the intention of the Trust as well as of king Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu to submit a multi-billion rand land claim. They are currently busy with research for this claim and it will cover all lands that became part of the Zulu Empire after 1838 (see here).

This date is of vital importance. 1838 was the year is which the Retief/Dingaan Treaty was signed, while other relevant agreements regarding land such as the Mpande/Cloete agreement, the agreement between Mpande and the founders of the Klip River Republic and the Botha/Dinizulu agreement leading to the formation of the Nieuw Republic, followed after 1838.

Front National is currently busy with intensive research and tracking down relevant historical evidence to claim ownership of certain areas of land. The proposed Ingonyama-claim includes the entire Kwazulu-Natal, as well as pieces of the Eastern Cape, Free State and Mpumalanga.

As a result of this, FN wrote a letter to the Chief Director of land Reform in KZN as well as to the registrar of the Land Claims Court this morning asking to be registered as respondent in the proposed Zulu-claim as we intend to oppose the validity of the claim where it affects certain geographical areas.
