Sheriff comes for Gauteng DoH's furniture - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says money is due for Ms Matshidiso Matlawa for her daughter Lethabo (Nov 21)

Pay the money! Sheriff comes for Gauteng Health department's furniture

21 November 2014

This morning a truck arrived outside the Head Office of the Gauteng Health Department to take furniture attached by the Sheriff of the Court to pay a R6.1 million medical negligence award.

Furniture to be attached includes the following:

800 chairs,

600 desks,

400 computers,

100 filing cabinets, and

60 printers.

The department claims that it has already paid but lawyer Gary Austin deputes this and insists that furniture will be removed unless firm guarantee of payment is made today.

The money is due for Ms Matshidiso Matlawa for her daughter Lethabo, who was brain-damaged due to lack of oxygen when she was born five years ago at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

To use a now popular message my appeal to Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu is: Pay The Money!

Her department must obey the law like everyone else and pay accounts promptly.

Otherwise furniture from her own personal office must be removed first.
