ANC humbled by good showing in by-elections

Party achieves sweeping victories in Mogalakwena, Mooi River, Inkwanca and elsewhere

ANC STATEMENT ON THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY-ELECTION OUTCOME

The African National Congress Is humbled by its good showing in yesterday's by-elections which saw sweeping victory in all provinces including reclaiming the council of Mogalakwena in Limpopo , Mooi River in Kzn, Ngaka Modiri Molema in the North West, and Inkwanca in The Eastern Cape.

This victory has re-affirmed the decision of the ANC to listen to our people on the selection of candidates which was subjected to the approval of communities as opposed to imposing candidates in disregard of the people they serve.

The ANC will not take for granted this re-affirmation. The ANC and its government under the stewardship of President Zuma will endeavor to improve local government performs to ensure that we continue improving the quality of life of our people and to make South Africa a better place.

We call on all our representatives not to take this re-affirmation for granted and to put our people first.
