"Buried without his head! Tears for madala after muthi murder" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, May 6 2013

Daily Sun (May 6 2013) - PEOPLE came from far and wide to pay their last respects to a well-loved madala on Saturday. But this was no ordinary funeral . . . MARCO NGUBANE (78) WAS BURIED WITHOUT HIS HEAD AND LEFT HAND! It happened at Mseleni in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Marco's family says he always took pride in his cattle and took them out grazing every day. But on Tuesday he was murdered in broad daylight and his head and left hand were chopped off and taken away. The old man's son, Alison Ngubane (33) told Daily Sun:

"Neighbours found the body and called us to go there. We are very traumatised by what we saw. We only knew it was him by his clothes and his body structure. It's the first time in the village that someone has been buried without a head. It's clear that my father's killer wanted to use his missing body parts for muthi and we won't rest until we know what happened to his head and hand."
