COMMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO ANCYL PRESIDENT UNACCEPTABLE

The African National Congress has noted certain statements about Minister of Education Naledi Pandor attributed to ANC Youth League President Julius Malema.

If correctly reported, his comments are uncalled for and unacceptable.

The ANC Youth League is entitled to express its own positions and views.

However, this should be done within the norms and culture of the ANC.

Malema's reported comments suggest a lack of respect for the dignity of the individual concerned and the important work they have been entrusted to undertake.

There can be no excuse for the kind of utterances attributed to Malema.

This is a matter the ANC leadership intends to take up with the Youth League.
