No decision on premier candidates yet - ANC

Jessie Duarte says provinces must still forward three names to NEC for final decision

Following a number of queries, the ANC wishes to clarify that it has NOT yet identified its candidates for the position of Premier in any of the nine provinces.

The process for the appointment of ANC Premier candidates is guided by a resolution of the ANC's 52nd National Conference held in Polokwane in December 2007.

The process is that for each province, the ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) will recommend a pool of three names, in order of priority, for consideration for the position of Premier.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) will make a final decision based on the pool of names from the province.

The ANC will make an announcement on its Premier candidates once the selection process is complete.
