BUSA LOOKS FORWARD TO CONSTRUCTIVE ENGAGEMENT WITH BBC

BUSA is encouraged by the overall message given by the Black Business Council Steering Committee interim Chairman Patrice Motsepe yesterday, that the BBC was not formed to fight BUSA but instead wished to negotiate with BUSA on issues of mutual concern (see report).

BUSA is open to structured constructive engagement with the BBC on matters of common concern which contribute to strengthening a united business voice as well as the business role in achieving the overarching national imperatives of growth, job creation, inequality and poverty alleviation.

Given the economic challenges facing South Africa both domestically and internationally, BUSA believes that business unity premised on a solid foundation of a shared vision and commitment is critical.

BUSA has a membership of various business associations and organisations, some with specific sectoral focus and some as general business associations. These members have their own mandated positions from their membership and their participation at BUSA is premised on solid well-consolidated views and positions from their members. As the apex business organisation, we therefore welcome the consolidation of blackbusiness as this will mean that at the macro business level as offered by the BUSA platform, matters peculiar to black business will be clearly articulated by the BBC in a singular voice.

BUSA also welcomes the BBC's espoused plans to capacitate their members so as to enable them to have more meaningful participation within BUSA structures.

BUSA awaits formal notification from the BBC with details of their agenda items for discussion.
