Zuma must fire Shiceka at once - James Lorimer

DA MP says Public Protector's findings leave President with no other choice

President should fire Shiceka without hesitation

The Public Protector's finding against the Minister of Co-operative Governance, Sicelo Shiceka, leaves President Zuma with no choice. He must dismiss Minister Shiceka and make him pay back the money he stole from the South African people.

The President has said that he would not take any action until the Public Protector's investigation is complete. The moment that the President has been waiting for has arrived. He must act now and fire Minister Shiceka.

There is no way that a Minister  found to have violated the Executive Ethics Code and the Constitution on five separate occasions should be allowed to stay in the Cabinet. Minister Shiceka abused his office, stole money and lied to the President and the public.

We trust that President Zuma will show South Africa that he is as tough on corruption as he says he is. The ball is firmly in his court.
