BROKEN AIRCONS AT JOBURG HOSPITAL
Patients and staff have been sweltering in wards at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital because of air-conditioners that have been broken for three months.
A doctor told me that people have sometimes fainted because of the heat.
The situation is aggravated by closed windows to prevent patients from jumping out.
It is unclear why the air-conditioners have not been repaired, but maintenance is an ongoing problem at Gauteng hospitals.
I have written to Gauteng Health MEC Hope Papo requesting that he restore the air-conditioning at this hospital as soon as possible.
