Charlotte Maxeke's roof leaking - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says patients in hospital had to be moved from certain wards

RAIN CAUSES JOBURG HOSPITAL LEAKS

Patients have had to be moved from certain wards because of roof leaks caused by rain at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

This is unpleasant for both staff and patients who earlier endured stifling heat because of broken air-conditioners.

The overall problem is shockingly poor maintenance at this major hospital.

Last week there were power fluctuations as electricity cuts hit the hospital.

Maintenance at hospitals needs to be taken away from the incompetent Gauteng Infrastructure Development Department and given to hospital management.

This will help to ensure that hospitals have proper infrastructure, including reliable generators to cope with the Eskom power cuts.
