ANC planning on disrupting our anniversary rally - EFF

Fighters say they won't be bullied by intolerant political cowards (July 21)

EFF Condemns ANC plans to disrupt the EFF anniversary rally taking place in Soweto this Saturday

21 July 2014

Economic Freedom Fighters condemns the cowardice plans of the African National Congress in Gauteng to disrupt the EFF Anniversary Rally this Saturday. The leadership of the EFF was briefed reliably that the ANC branch secretary in Jabulani told an official branch meeting that there is an instruction from upper structures that the EFF rally must be disrupted. This information had already been communicated to the EFF by a source who works in the ANC provincial office. In essence, the ANC Provincial leadership has instructed branches in Soweto to disrupt the EFF Anniversary Rally this Saturday.

It will not be for the first time that the ANC plans to disrupt EFF events. There have been many attempts in the past to sabotage booking of venues which have resulted in EFF in some instances having to go to court to have what belongs to all citizens.  The ANC has also clandestinely sent thugs to torch EFF facilities under the cover of darkness on nights before EFF public events as it was the case in Thokoza. This cowardice harassment, disruption and undermining of EFF rights has been happening for far too long.

The EFF has communicated with the police with regards to the recent reports regarding the Anniversary Rally disruptions with the full knowledge that in the past police have also not been useful. Police have, on countless occasions, failed to protect EFF members and EFF public community events from being attacked and harassed by those who do so on behalf of the ANC.

The EFF calls on all its members to come prepared to the Anniversary Rally in defending their right to the freedom of assembly. All fighters must make sure that the First Year Anniversary Rally does not get disrupted by ANC hooligans who cannot accept the democratic right of the EFF to exist. This country belongs to all who live in it, and EFF is protected by the constitution of this country to hold its events without any undue and violent interference from any organisation or people even if they be in control of state power.

The EFF will never accept to be bullied by any cowards who fail to accept the basic right of other political formations to freely exist and freely organize. The Anniversary Rally has been properly organiser through all lawful means and therefore those who disrupt it are the law breakers and they will meet the full might of the fighters.
