ANC snatches another ward off IFP - ANC KZN

Sihle Zikalala says by-election result provides a foretaste of what will come in 2016 local govt elections

ANC: PEOPLE OF KZN CONTINUE TO REJECT NON-PERFORMING IFP

28 August 2014

In a foretaste of what will happen in the upcoming local government elections in 2016, the African National Congress yesterday won the second crucial Inkatha Freedom Party ward in less than three weeks.

On August 13, our movement snatched Indaka Municipality's Ward Four from the IFP and yesterday we won Ward Four of Jozini Municipality also from the IFP. Our snap surveys tell us that these humbling developments are as results of service delivery achievements that have made a huge impact in the length and breadth of our province. The people of KwaZulu-Natal believe that the ANC is the only political organisation that has a clear plan to take the province forward well coordinated service delivery.

The ANC growth in all parts of the province happens at a time when the IFP has waged an offensive propaganda campaign in the media, claiming that the province was better off when it was still under its rule.

The by-elections results are a clear sign that the people of KwaZulu-Natal refuse to be hoodwinked by this desperate propaganda campaign because they know too well that the province has prospered in the past ten years since the poor performing IFP was ejected as governing party in the province. Surely the people of the province recognize that under the ANC, KwaZulu-Natal has changed from being known as a poorly performing province to being the second economic hub in South Africa.

The people of Jozini now voted for the ANC because they see tangible multi-million rands water, housing and roads projects being rolled out by the ANC government right on their door steps. No amount of propaganda campaign can erase that from their minds.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all people who have voted for the ANC and we want to pledge our undying commitment to ensuring that there is quality service delivery in all parts of the province. As the leader of society, the ANC is working hard to ensure that all municipalities are under its control so that there will be better coordination of services which some of our communities have been waiting for, for decades.
