Lesotho: Guptas a destructive tsotsi family - EFF

Fighters call on President Zuma to withdraw SAPS from that country, as its problems are political not security related

The Economic Freedom Fighters the EFF calls on Lesotho prime minister to convene parliament and for president Zuma to recall SAPS from Lesotho

18 September 2014

The Economic Freedom Fighters calls on President Zuma to recall the South African Police Services deployed in Lesotho with immediate effect.

The move to deploy the SAPS into a sovereign country is, to say the least, undermining of Lesotho's sovereignty and self-determination. The Prime Minister of Lesotho must allow the country's internal processes to unfold under the collective leadership of Lesotho's duly elected parliament.

There is no reason why the Prime Minister has not delivered on the promise to reopen parliament, except the fear of being held accountable regarding claims of corruption. A single individual cannot hold the entire region at ransom, simply because he wants to rule alone, running away from answering to parliament, and to make matters worse, under the protection of a foreign security guard.

Lesotho is not facing a security problem, instead it is facing a political problem. South Africa's misinformed intervention is based on Zuma's permanent incapacity to diagnose problems. President Zuma and Lesotho Prime Minister must further not hold everyone at ransom to protect their generally corrupt relationship with the Gupta family.

The South African police must be withdrawn with immediate effect and Lesotho must be allowed to find solutions to their own problems without foreign security patronage to any individual politician. Political leadership of the region, SADC, must further play a leading role on what must happen as opposed to Zuma moving ahead of it.

Lesotho has internal processes, which must be respected and promoted both by other governments and the Prime Minister of Lesotho. This is a simple democratic dictum. No one must ever think South Africa is there to protect them from facing accountability from their country's peoples, courts, parliaments or legislatures simply because they share a common corrupt Gupta umbilical cord with President Zuma.

The Lesotho Prime Minister appointed the Gupta family as his advisors who then advised him to shut down parliament. The Gupta family is a destructive tsotsi family that seeks to destabilise African countries and it too must be stopped, particularly as pushed by the unaccountable, lawless and tsotsi President Zuma who introduced it to Lesotho in the first place.

The Zuma and Gupta family share a common pathology to squander resources of the people in an unholy alliance which is now expanding to the SADC region. This must be stopped and EFF will ensure that the matter is promptly attended to by the South African parliament.
