AREVA welcomes the intergovernmental agreement signed today between the French and South African governments for cooperation in the development of civil nuclear energy.

AREVA has been an important supplier to the South African nuclear industry since the construction of the Koeberg nuclear power plant. The group has remained a leading actor in the country, notably through the supply of nuclear components and services. In September, AREVA was selected for the replacement of the steam generators at Koeberg's two reactors.

This agreement is also an important factor for future of nuclear new build projects in South Africa.

AREVA is ready to support this development, notably through its generation III + EPR reactor technology that is currently under construction in Finland, France and China and which has been selected for the next reactor project in the United Kingdom.
