The DA has delivered in Grabouw - Helen Zille

DA leader says ANC is desperate to win crucial November 26 by-election at all costs

Your vote will keep Grabouw true blue

14 November 2014

Note to editors: The following address by DA Leader Helen Zille was delivered at a public gathering in Bos Street ahead of by-elections in Grabouw, Theewaterskloof on 26 November.

It is good to be in beautiful Grabouw today, meeting the beautiful people who make this town work.

This is going to be a very close by-election, and we will need every single DA supporter to get out and vote on 26 November.

This ward gives the DA a majority to govern Theewaterskloof without needing a coalition.

And our record in government here speaks for itself.

Under the DA, residents benefit from one of the best water purification plants ever built in the Western Cape. We also have a comprehensive indigency programme to ensure that every resident, regardless of their income, benefits from basic services.

We are also working on rolling out 900 housing units through the "Waterworks" housing programme, upgrading high-mast lighting and creating jobs through EPWP programmes that leave a lasting skills legacy in Grabouw.

The ANC knows that the DA delivers in Grabouw and that is why they are so desperate to win this ward at all costs.

We know that people here have had enough of the ANC-aligned Grabouw Civics Organization and its leader John Michaels.

They are tired of the dirty politics and the violence and destruction that Mr Michaels orchestrates. That is why he was chased out of this community recently.

While the DA delivers, the ANC tries to break down services through vandalism and intimidation.

In this election everyone who values the beautiful town of Grabouw, and its people, needs to get out and vote DA.

Let's keep Grabouw and Theewaterskloof true blue!
