GDE concerned about allegations of racism at Curro Roodeplaat

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) is concerned about reports that learners at Curro Roodeplaat (Independent School) are being placed in a racially segregated manner at the school (see EWN report).

We view this matter in a very serious light and if indeed these allegations are true, we condemn such conduct in the strongest terms.

There is absolutely no room for racism in any school including in Independent schools.

The department will send officials to the school tomorrow to ascertain what happened, how it happened, who was involved and what appropriate steps should be taken.
