COSATU, DA, SANCO agree joint petition on Gauteng tolls

Gauteng legislature to facilitate meeting between roads dept and parties

GAUTENG TOLL GATES PETITIONERS AGREE ON A JOINT PETITION TO THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT WITHIN 14 DAYS

Following the Gauteng Toll Gates Petitions Hearing held at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature on the 11 November 2011; petitioners have agreed on a number of interventions in order to curb the implementation of the E-Tolling System underway in the Province.

The first of these interventions is a joint petition that will be sent to the Minister of Transport. This joint petition will be sent by COSATU, SANCO, SANGOCO, SATAWU, DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE and other parties. This joint petition will be drafted and sent within 14 days.

Secondly, Gauteng Legislature will facilitate a meeting between the Provincial Department of Roads and Transport and the parties mentioned above to discuss development of public transport within the province

Lastly, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature will table a report on the hearing that will be debated by parties to the legislature.
