ANC KZN backs Mkhize's cabinet reshuffle

Party convinced move will strengthen service delivery and oversight role

ANC WELCOMES KZN CABINET RESTRUCTURING

The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal welcomes the Provincial Cabinet restructuring by the Premier and ANC provincial chairperson, CdeZweli Mkhize.

The change of cabinet comes very handy in the reconfiguration and positioning of government to focus on accelerating transformation to improve the lives of ordinary people. Through our assessment as the ANC, we are convinced that this move will strengthen our service delivery and oversight role.

We support the step taken by the Cde Mkhize. This indicates that we are on a right path. We congratulate the following tried and tested cadres of our movement in their new appointment to serve the people of KZN in the following capacities:

  • Cde Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha who has been appointed as MEC of Sport, Art, Recreation and Culture.
  • Cde Weziwe Thusi as MEC for Social Development from Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation.
  • Cde Meshack Hadebe as MEC of Agriculture from Social Development
  • Cde Ravi Pillay (former Chief Whip) has been appointed as MEC of Human Settlement
  • Cde Makhosi Khoza (former chairperson of SCOPA) who has been appointed as a ANC Chief Whip

As the ANC in KZN, we are confident that they will work very hard with greater courage to fulfil the mandate in delivering on the priorities of our manifesto.

We want to thank Cde Lydia Johnson and Cde Maggie Govender for the good work they have done during their term of office. It is our view that this restructuring will contribute significantly to strengthening government performance and capacity.
