ActionSA dissolves its KZN PEC with immediate effect – Michael Beaumont

ActionSA dissolves its KZN PEC with immediate effect

9 August 2022

ActionSA’s Senate met this evening to consider the future of the current Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) in KwaZulu-Natal.

Over the past few weeks it has become clear that a group of individuals have been allowed to infiltrate the PEC in KwaZulu-Natal with the intention of creating instability within ActionSA.

It is apparent that the actions of these individuals are motivated by political forces outside of ActionSA, and would manifest in a series of public resignations citing false pretences for the purpose of damaging the image of the party.

These individuals are not victims but rather traitors to the people of KZN who voted for ActionSA as an alternative to the ANC.

Specifically, it appears that the unexpected discovery of a recorded conversation between a former member of the PEC and someone in the ANC (which involved soliciting ActionSA’s support to protect the ANC in KZN Municipalities for money) set these events in motion. This individual’s membership was summarily terminated because ActionSA did not tolerate the protection of the ANC then and will not do so now.

ActionSA’s constitution requires decisive action to be taken under such circumstances to ensure that the vast majority of members, who are committed to ActionSA’s work to Fix South Africa, are not subjected to the conduct of those who operate with ulterior motives. This will include measures to terminate the membership of those involved.

The Senate was at pains to observe that there are many members of ActionSA within the PEC who are deeply committed to the project to Fix South Africa. We are confident they will continue to build the structures that are rapidly growing across the province.

This evening’s Senate resolved that the party’s National Director of Operations, John Moodey, will oversee all political activities in KZN pending the arrival of a new Provincial Chairperson in October 2022.

ActionSA is an organisation that is growing rapidly across KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa. While a handful of individuals seek to portray themselves as a broader number of people, they remain a small group. Nothing could demonstrate this more powerfully than images of ActionSA structures across South Africa celebrating Women's Day by driving critical matters impacting the lives of South African women.

ActionSA will continue to grow across the Province to ensure that we provide a viable alternative to the people of KwaZulu-Natal.
