MKMVA welcomes Bheki Cele appointment

Kebby Maphatsoe says new police chief is capable of fulfilling duties

MKMVA WELCOMES THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF POLICE COMMISSIONER

As Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association we welcome and celebrate the appointment and announcement of the new National Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bheki Cele by the President of the Republic, Mr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma. This is in line with all the progressive appointments have made since his election and this has shown his commitment to a vision of a united and prosperous South Africa.

The new National Police Commissioner is more than capable of fulfilling all the responsibilities and duties of the office he has been appointed to hold. During his tenure in Kwazulu Natal he had proved to be a leader who understands that he must deliver to the people and make sure that a better life is a realisation for all.

As MKMVA we will support all the initiatives that the National Police Commissioner will undertake to make sure that we reduce crime and ultimately make South Africa a safer place for all to live in. We trust the National Police Commissioner to be above reproach and not have any bias when it comes to implementation of the strategic goal of security.

We are prepared to work with the National Commissioner to make sure that crime is eradicated and our communities are areas where we live without fear.

Statement issued by the Office of the MKMVA National Chairperson, Kebby Maphatsoe, July 30 2009
