Investigation into tenders at six out of ten Limpopo municipalities now completed

UPDATE ON THE INVESTIGATION RELATING TO ALLEGATIONS OF IMPROPER AWARDING OF TENDERS TO SGL ENGINEERING PROJECTS

The Public Protector's investigation into ten (10) municipalities alleged to have improperly awarded tenders to SGL Engineering Projects is still underway. The investigation is taking some time to complete mainly due to the scope of work involved, among other things.

The outstanding four (4) municipalities will be attended to during July 2010. The Public Protector will issue a report once the investigation has been finalised.

The investigation relates to Mopani District Municipality, Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality, Greater Letaba Municipality, Makhado Local Municipality, Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality, Waterberg District Municipality, Vhembe District Municipality, Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality, Mutale Local Municipality (all in Limpopo) and Bojanala Platinum District Municipality in North West.
