Richard Mdluli new crime intelligence head

SAPS congratulates career cop on his appointment to key position

Divisional Commissioner of SAPS Crime Intelligence Division appointment

Top management of the South African Police Service would like to congratulate Commissioner Richard Mdluli on his appointment as Divisional Commissioner of the police's Crime Intelligence Division with effect from 1 July 2009.

Prior to this appointment, Commissioner Mdluli (51 years) was a Deputy Provincial Commissioner in Gauteng.

Mdluli joined the police in August 1979 and was immediately placed in the detective environment. He worked his way up through the ranks as an investigator, detective branch commander and also served as an officer in crime intelligence. He is a competent leader, able to motivate members under his command and lead by example as an experienced investigator.

Commissioner Mdluli has a B Tech in Policing degree and is married with three children.

"Commissioner Mdluli has proved himself to be an invaluable asset to the South African Police Service and I have no doubt that he will lead the Crime Intelligence Division with dedication, commitment and integrity", said Acting National Commissioner Tim Williams.

"Together with the Deputy National Commissioners and other members of top management of the South African Police Service, I wish him well in his new post and look forward to working closely with him", said Commissioner Williams.
