We have not yet decided who we will support for president – ANCWL

Women's League denies rumours that there are underground lobbying for Bathabile Dlamini to succeed Zuma

The ANCWL rejects rumours that its president Cde Bathabile Dlamini wants to be ANC president

11 August 2016

The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) wishes to refute the article titled "ANCWL wants Bathabile Dlamini to replace Zuma as President", published by Eye News  yesterday.

The Eye News further reported on an alleged underground lobbying for ANCWL President Cde Bathabile Dlamini to succeed Cde Jacob Zuma as the ANC President. The report is mischievous and is clearly designed to sow divisions, uncertainty and confusion within structures of the African National Congress.

The ANCWL respects the decision of the ANC of not participating in any succession talks until the appropriate time when debates are open. The ANCWL and its President have been preoccupied with the 2016 Local Government Elections work and had no time to engage on factional talks.

The ANCWL has not yet decided on who it will support for ANC president in 2017. The womens league rejects the attempts to divert and cause unease and uncertainty within the structures of our organisation.
