Why I settled with Carien du Plessis - Floyd Shivambu

ANCYL national spokesperson says he didn't want to waste time on a non-issue

NYIKO FLOYD SHIVAMBU, ANC YOUTH LEAGUE SPOKESPERSON STATEMENT ON THE EQUALITY COURT PROCEEDINGS.

24 April 2012

Today, the 24th of April 2012, I Floyd Shivambu, National Spokesperson of the ANC Youth League signed a Court settlement agreement on the Equality Court case brought against me by a Journalist. I signed the settlement because I did not deem it valuable to continue with Court cases that have no bearing or influence in the struggle for economic freedom in our lifetime. My Legal representatives advised that I sign the settlement agreement, and I complied because the Court proceedings are a waste of time on a non-issue.

My affidavit on what transpired is on record, and the settlement agreement is signed to solely avoid wastage of time, which under the current political developments in the ANC and South Africa cannot be wasted on side-issues. I will not take any media enquiries concerning this communication because it will further waste time and serve no political and ideological purpose.
