"Tortured! For his R5 lunch money!" - Daily Sun

Daily Sun (May 16 2013) - TEBOGO'S big mistake was refusing to give his R5 lunch money to the school bullies. So the angry boys took him to the soccer field and tried to hang him from the goal posts. TEBOGO ESCAPED WITH HIS LIFE, BUT THE TRAUMATISED BOY MAY STILL LOSE HIS ARM!

Last Monday Tebogo Bogatsu (11) - a grade 3 pupil at Retlilepele Primary School in Mabopane, north of Tshwane - was at school when a gang of about 10 school bullies tried to take his R5 lunch money. When brave little Tebogo refused to give them his cash, the angry boys decided to teach him a lesson.

A tearful Tebogo, speaking from his gogo's home in Mabopane, told Daily Sun what happened... "I was punched and kicked and dragged to the sports ground," he said. He said one of the boys had a long belt which they attached to the crossbar of the goal posts. Tebogo was told to stand on a rock and the belt was placed around his neck. "One of the hooligans pushed me so that I would be left hanging," he said.

Fortunately for Tebogo, the crossbeam collapsed and he fell to the ground but the heavy pole fell on his arm. "It was very painful because the bones were crushed," he cried. Tebogo spent many days in hospital after the attack on 6 May. Doctors at Dr George Mukhari Hospital have told his parents that saving his hand will cost a lot of money. Otherwise it may have to be amputated.
