Bathabile Dlamini caught in another Tlokwe fib - Mike Waters

DA MP says minister falsely claimed there were more than 17 000 child-headed households in municipality

Bathabile Dlamini caught in another Tlokwe lie

The Minister of Social Development, Bathabile Dlamini, has been caught in another lie about her distribution of food parcels in Tlokwe, North West, just days before crucial by-elections in the area.

In August this year the Minister claimed that the reason for her distribution of food parcels was the existence of more than 17 000 child-headed households in Tlokwe.

However, according to the Minister's own reply to a DA parliamentary question, there are only 5 681 child-headed households in the entire North West province.

It is sickening that the Minister would use the plight of Tlokwe's child-headed household for political point scoring. She ought to be ashamed of herself.

I will forward this information to the Public Protector and request that she include it in her current investigation about the distribution of food parcels in Tlokwe by Minister Dlamini.

DA will continue to hold Minister Dlamini and others like her, who manipulate state resources and our children for political purposes, to account.
