Charges against Judge Hlophe must be dropped - YCL

Young Communists call on commission to halt 'shenanigans' and discontinue hearings

YCL STATEMENT ON THE DROPPING OF JUDGE HLOPHE CASE

The Young Communist League of SA calls for the dropping of the charges and discontinuation of the now compromised hearing against Judge John Hlophe by the Judicial Services Commission. The YCL believes that the matter has been greatly compromised by the statement made under oath by one of the judges [Judge Mvuseni Ngubane] pertaining to the timing of the hearing on Hlophe.

The YCLSA does not in anyway suspect political conspiracy in the matter, but will not be shocked if there is evidence pointing to such given Ngubane's "reasons for dissenting views" which has been submitted to court as part of the Hlophe submission to the Cape Town High Court.

We call on the JSC to save face and halt its "shenanigans" by discontinuing with the hearings and their intentions for an impeachment on Hlophe. We hold no brief for Judge Hlophe, but are interested in fairness of the already bruised justice system of our country.

The YCLSA will lobby all role players involved in the matter to ensure that the matter is discontinued. We also call on the Minister of Justice to conduct hearings to find out if indeed some of the Judges were conniving against Hlophe and bring those to book if found to have transgressed.
