Gauteng Health continues to fill critical posts

The Gauteng Department of Health in a bid to maintain high standard of healthcare in academic, tertiary and specialized hospitals continues to fill critical vacancies.

In the beginning of the term for 6th Administration, Gauteng Health allocated resources to fill critical posts. A total of 1 974 posts will be filled by the end of the current financial year.

In ensuring that all vacant critical posts are filled, the Department has taken the following steps:

The Department has issued an open block advertisement for all facilities for critical posts: clinical, nursing and allied professionals. This is an open advertisement, and posts will be filled on a continuous basis up to the closing date of the 31 October 2020.

All critical posts are filled as soon as they are vacated, where a suitable candidate cannot be found through the formal recruitment processes, facilities head hunt specialists so as to ensure that service delivery is not compromised. In addition to that, the walk-in applications are also accepted. Furthermore, some facilities appoint specialists on sessional basis.

In the current financial year, the department has appointed 1159 personnel in the academic, tertiary and specialized hospitals. Those appointments consist of medical officers, specialists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, radiographers, and nurses.
