DA condemns Bronkhorstspruit farm attack

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has learned with great dismay about four suspects who attacked a couple and seven orphans in their care, tied them up and attempted to rape the wife, while stealing their belongings at a farm in Bronkhorstspruit.

The police need to implement urgent measures to address the issue of attacks on farms, incidents of which are being reported across the country.

The DA's long standing appeal for the integration of rural safety units has fallen on deaf ears.

The DA has a clear rural safety plan which includes establishing specialised rural safety units consisting of specially trained members of the police.

Police Minister Bheki Cele must make his intention clear on bringing about rural safety security in South Africa.

The DA will continue to strive for the safety of every farmer, farm worker and farming community.
