Francis Rasuge remains found - ANCWL

League says police should have informed family of murder victim, before the media

RE: ANCWL HOPES RASUGE'S REMAINS BRING FAMILY PEACE

The ANC Women's League greets the news that the bones discovered at the house of murderer William Nkuna's, are those of Constable Francis Rasuge, with mixed emotions (see report).

While we are happy Rasuge can finally get a proper burial and her family can find peace in the knowledge of understanding what happened to her, and they can finally put this horrific ordeal behind them. We are also aware that all hope, no matter how slim, of her safe return has been lost.

The ANC Women's league will arrange a visit to the family home as we want to be there for them during this difficult time when old wounds have been painfully re-opened, and heart ache brought back to the fore. The Women's Lead a strong campaign during Nkuna's trail and were there to support the family and help them rebuild their lives after this loss, we will not leave them in the lurch now and will lend our support to the family and hold their hand through this difficult process.

They are not alone in their suffering, the ANCWL felt very close to Rasuge's case and we emerged ourselves into the campaign to see justice served. It is for this reason that we too feel the loss and sympathise with her family.

The ANC Women's League condemns the handling of this news by police. The police showed little sensitivity or sympathy for the family by breaking the news to the media before ensuring the family had been informed of the news. It is unacceptable that the family had to hear of the news from the media and not from authorities, adding to the distress they are currently experiencing.
