Strike expected to begin with effect from night shift on Tuesday, September 3 2013

Gold producers confirm receipt of 48 hours notice of strike from NUM

Johannesburg, 30 August 2013: The gold producers represented by the Chamber of Mines in wage negotiations (AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Rand Uranium, Harmony Gold, Evander Gold Mine, Sibanye Gold, Village Main Reef) confirm that they have received 48-hour notice of commencement strike action.  The strike is expected to begin with effect from the night shift on Tuesday, 3 September 2013.

The employers will continue to make plans in anticipation of strike action, to ensure the continuation of essential services, and to ensure the safety and security of employees and assets.

The employers remain open to discussions with all unions, and urge them to engage in good faith to reach an outcome that is acceptable to all.

Update: Gold producers confirm receipt of UASA's acceptance of employers' final offer

Johannesburg, 30 August 2013: The gold producers represented by the Chamber of Mines in wage negotiations (AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Rand Uranium, Harmony Gold, Evander Gold Mine, Sibanye Gold, Village Main Reef) confirm that they have received an acceptance of the employers' final offer tabled on 27 August by UASA.
