Infantry HQ shouldn't be named 'The Kremlin' - Pieter Groenewald

FF+ MP says any politicisation of defence force should not be tolerated

Kremlin name at Infantry school politicises Defence Force

"By naming the headquarters at the Infantry school ‘The Kremlin' the Defence Force is politicised and must be removed immediately. There is no place for politics in the Defence Force and the report of the Interim Defence Force Service Commission has pointed out the politicisation of the Defence Force as one of the critical problems in the National Defence Force," Mr. Pieter Groenewald (MP), the chief spokesperson on Defence for the Freedom Front Plus says.

"To name the unit's conference room the ‘Central Committee' speaks of authority problems. It appears as if senior officers view themselves as supreme commanders in order to enforce their authority. It is therefore no wonder that three soldiers have already died in this unit. I will be taking up the matter with the minister directly as well as in Parliament," Groenewald said.
