COSATU outraged at JP Smith's attack on modified cars

COSATU is outraged by the attack by JP Smith on modified cars, given that it is mainly Black communities who practice this hobby. This silly statement to outlaw modified cars will lead to many jobs being lost in the motor industry. The modifications are often in line with National and International standards. But the bigger question is the ineptitude of JP Smith, who has failed to deal with the problem of drag racing (see Cape Argus report).

When JP Smith is exposed for his incompetence in respect of the gang violence on the Cape Flats then he goes to the media with another silly issue.

Who can forget his regulation that told dogs they could only bark for 5 minutes an evening or the assault on the busker in Cape Town. Here is a Mayco member who has not been able to deal with his area of responsibility and to bring about results.

Yet he is maintained in the position he is so clearly incapable of managing.  Recently he said that he had placed police in Mannenberg, yet the people were still getting killed in that area. He is clearly just going through the motions and has no idea that a strategic deployment is required to achieve the desired outcomes.

This entire situation in safety of the citizens of Cape Town is deteriorating and it is getting more dangerous every day. If the City does not want to fire JP Smith because Zille is defending him, then he must be moved out of this area into sports and sand castle building.
