Pretoria - Following the arrest of Mr Radovan Krejcir and his alleged accomplice, Desai Lupondo on Friday 22 November 2013, the South African Police Service can confirm that a policeman has now also been arrested (see EWN report).

Mr Krejcir and his associate were arrested on warrants of arrest by a multi-disciplinary team which was set up by the National Police Commissioner, General Riah Phiyega. 

These arrests were as a result of an investigation into an incident which occurred in June 2013. A case of kidnapping and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm was reported in the East Rand at the time.

Today, just after 08:00, the team arrested a 41 year old warrant officer in connection with the same case for which Mr Krejcir and his associate were arrested.  He was arrested on a warrant of arrest by the in investigation team. The warrant officer is a member of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (known as the HAWKS).

More arrests are expected.
