Association says it eagerly awaits the findings regarding the relationships between ousted officials and big tobacco companies

FITA RESPONSE

26 August 2015

The Fair-Trade Independent Tobacco Association ('FITA') has noted the statement issued by Alf Lees MP, DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Finance, August 25, 2015 regarding the KPMG report on the SARS spy unit (see here).

FITA has noted Mr Lees' comments that investigations into the tobacco industry may have had a role to play in the exposing of the unlawful rogue unit within SARS.

FITA strongly supports the publication of the KPMG report and eagerly awaits investigation findings regarding the relationships between ousted officials and big tobacco companies which have enjoyed undue preference and protection historically.

FITA is a non-profit company comprised of local, independent cigarette manufacturers and tobacco processor members who support and reinvest into the local South African economy.
