SKWEYIYA RETIRES FROM PARLIAMENTARY POLITICS

ANC National Executive Committee member and outgoing Minister of Social Development Zola Skweyiya is retiring from parliamentary politics.

He will therefore not be sworn in as a Member of Parliament today (6 May 2009).

The ANC's officials were informed of his decision, due to health reasons, some months ago.

Skweyiya will continue to serve as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and remain involved in the work of the organisation.

The ANC wishes to express its appreciation for Skweyiya's tireless service  to the country since he was first elected to Parliament in 1994.
