Zuma's goals laudable - Patricia de Lille

But the ID leader says the challenge for the new govt will be effective implementation

ID RESPONSE TO THE STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS

ID President Patricia de Lille says ‘the goals President Jacob Zuma has set for Government for next 5 years are laudable, but we have heard them all before.

‘The challenge for President Zuma now is to bring about efficient implementation and for his Cabinet to walk the talk,' Ms De Lille says.

‘We are pleased that for the first time there is going to be monitoring and evaluation of the performance of Ministers, because we in the Independent Democrats have repeatedly said that Ministers must be held accountable for their responsibilities and actions.

‘We also hope that he will make these performance indicators public every 3 months so that the nation can be kept abreast of delivery,' says De Lille.

‘In terms of the economic recession, we agree with the President that the help of all South Africans is needed if we are to weather the storm and we therefore expected a little more detail about government's plan.'
