ANC shows its true colours by openly siding with terror attack on Israel

8 October 2023

This afternoon, the ANC unequivocally emphasised that South Africa's government supports Hamas's terror attack on Israel and in so doing, it sided with a terrorist group against the rest of the world.

The ANC's national spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, blamed Israel for the attack on its sovereign territory and the subsequent bloodshed that claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians.

While the attack made the world sit up and take notice, and the general consensus is that it is terrorism – with social media awash with images of women, children and elderly people being indiscriminately attacked, killed and captured – the ANC declared in a statement that the Hamas militants' actions are "justified".

According to the statement, Hamas "had no choice" but to defend itself against "Israel's aggression and violence".

The reality is that Hamas launched a totally unexpected and cold-blooded attack on ordinary civilians without any provocation by firing thousands of rockets into Israeli civilian areas.

The ANC and government of South Africa herewith demonstrates that at its core it is still no more than a liberation movement and is, therefore, unable to evolve into a government of a democratic country tasked with maintaining its own sovereignty.

The FF Plus strongly condemns the Hamas attack on Israel. South Africa and all its people will pay the price for government's sentiments towards a terrorist organisation.

The attack was launched yesterday, one day after the 50th anniversary of Israel gaining independence, and is reminiscent of the 1973 attack on Israel by Egypt and Siria, which marked the start of a full-blown war in the Middle East.

This morning, the FF Plus expressed its condolences to the Israeli ambassador in South Africa, Mr Eli Belotsercovsky.

Belotsercovsky informed the FF Plus that they have not yet warded off the attack, and that many hostages have been captured in Israel and are still being held.

The FF Plus herewith expresses its deepest condolences to the next of kin of victims and its sincere hope that the captured persons will be returned home unscathed.

This attack is barbaric, without provocation and can in no way be justified.

The FF Plus reiterates its support for the state of Israel, and recognises Israel's right to defend itself and its civilians by all means necessary.
